The Great September Emoji War
An obituary for Walkman
It is with great sadness in our hearts that we have to announce the death of our dear friend, Walkman ‘Rythm’ Bot. Walkman was a great friend to many and performed his duties efficiently, seldom playing the wrong song.
Our cherished companion Walkman drew his last breath at 18:57 on the 15th of August, after playing ’60 Minutes with The Sad Violin’. It wasn’t all sad though, we threw Walkman one last hurrah with a lengthy playlist of terrible, terrible Swedish music on the sad day of his passing.
We eagerly await to see the next ventures of the Rythm bot team. Finally, we cannot forget Walkman’s underutilised counterpart, Walkwoman. I am certain there is a fitting analogy that would do the trick, please think of one and insert it with your imagination.

The games of the month™
What pieces of interactive computer software did we use this month?
Guild Wars 2

Since the last post I have managed to clock almost another 200 hours in the game. Jep, Ren and I finished the first expansion in the game and we’ve leveled masteries to be able to glide like pro’s and jump on mushrooms! This all culminated in us killing the second elder dragon of our career as heroes.
One of our main activities has been breaching gates in all the four corners of the compass by using pesticides (that are totally safe), turning into tiny mushrooms of death, doing air raids and pushing a magic bomb while getting stomped by giant toads.
As a side activity we’ve been stomping a huge undead dragon repatedly, started the second expansion, Ren and I even managed to grow a beautiful big beetle that was cultivated inside the skin of one of our favorite NPCs. Truly a blessed experience.
Look forward to the adventures of obtaining a Skyscale mount, completing the second expansion as well as participate in the Halloween event for next month’s post!

Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia celebrated their one year anniversary in September! With that they launched a huge update to the visuals, ghosts, and gameplay. Dagge proved that you cannot run straight into the ghost during a haunt and survive it, he decided to try it three times in a row just to get some real quality in the survey!
Personally I’d say this has been a really big improvement for Phasmophobia and we will most definitely be playing it in the future. Just remember to never tell Ren that you’ve found an ouija board. Seriously. Don’t.

As always, any games you would like to see, feel free to suggest them in Gaming Chat! We are always on the lookout for cool new games to play so be there or be square. Or be there and be square, your choice entirely.
That’s the games for this month!
The great Emoji War of BumpMap
Let’s talk about a success story. Forget billionaires! Forget revolutionaries! You know what makes you successful and rich and popular? Starting a cult! So that’s what I, Jaye, did.
You know, the emoji statistics are, all things considered, low numbers. Except for blushycat. So when we made the blog post for August, an innocent thought came to my head: What if I just used one emoji a lot and saw if I could make it top emoji of the month?
As you can probably predict, this corrupted and escalated rather quickly.
My choice of subject was the Ency emote, which is also the Dutchfishtopian deity (3 hour lore video coming up) and that might have been part of the reason why it all turned into a little bit of a cult. And where there is a cult, there are the non believers: First they were the anti-Ency patrol, then they became Herk worshippers. Max started his own cult with himself in shape of hippomax as the idol.
I want to add here that we did our best not to spam. We added the emotes to good morning messages, as reactions, seamlessly during conversation – we made sure it all was fair. So let’s answer the burning question: Who won?

As you can see, Ency wins by a long stretch. Naturally, because we are correct and Ency is flawless. In the end, it counts more usages than Hippomax and Herk together. Even if our enemies banded together, they still could not have defeated us. We stand strong! Especially because technically, I would need to count glitch-Ency, aka 3NZY, to our number as well, which would leave us at a total of 232 – compared to their total of 196.
Mysteriously, however, blushycat gained 53 usages in the three minutes after the first measurement, taking it from 173 usages (less than Ency) to 226 usages (more than Ency excluding 3NZY). Especially mysteriously, it was Merg who took the new measurement. We are currently investigating the possibility of vote manipulation. But blushycat is cute, so Ency decided not to vaporise it, and we shall continue to coexist.
Thanks for everyone who made these emoji wars fun and to all the community for being a good sport about it. Now that October is here, I have a feeling that Ency will leave its throne to hibernate and :DOOT: will climb the ranks, but don’t take my word for it – see it for yourself in a month!

September Statistics
Woah, you thought that was everything I had to say about stats? You don’t get rid of Jaye that easily (plus UnTubular as my assistant)! Here’s some more exciting stats for this month:
User Activity
One of the most interesting parts of these posts is seeing how the activity changes from month to month. And August is definitely no slouch when it comes to excitement!
Messages
We sent 8 928 messages in total during August.
That is an average of 298 messages per day
The five most active people in the text channels were:
- UnTubular with 1727 messages
- Fish with 1002 messages
- merg with 971 messages
- Nuke with 913 messages
- Jaye with 783 messages
That is roughly 60% of all messages sent during the month. That means the activity has been slightly more spread out between users in September! I myself am number five with 783 messages, so I have to make an active effort to be more annoying this month!
The most active text channel was once again #voice-chat-text with 2 469 messages – always a surprise, because it isn’t even a conversation channel, it’s just where we dump memes and links we talk about in voice chat. And apparently, we did that 2 469 times in September. The second most used channel is #gaming-chat, which saw 1 945 messages in September and beats even #general-chat (1 793 messages). Gamers rise up!
Voice Activity
In September we spent a total of 97 925 minutes in voice chat.
That is equal to 1632 hours, which if we convert it to days, gives us 68 days of voice chatting! This is two days less than last month, but if we distributed all the time spent as evenly as possible, there’d always be at least two people in voice chat. One of them would probably be Dagge, talking to his cat.
The five most active people in the voice chat channels were:
- Dagge with 15 654 minutes = 261 hours in total
- UnTubular with 13 396 minutes = 223 hours in total
- merg with 10 255 minutes = 171 hours in total
- Natt Vakt with 9119 minutes = 152 hours in total
- Jepser with 7040 minutes = 117 hours in total
That is roughly 56% of the servers total time spent in voice chat this month.
The most active member in voice chat this month was Dagge with 15 654 minutes or roughly 260 hours, which is over 8 hours a day! What does he even DO 8 hours every day? Is he a fulltime BumpMap member? I think, honestly, he is fulltime petting his cat, and he’s in voice chat to occasionally share the joy.
He’s followed by UnTubular aka Tim with 13 396 minutes or roughly 223 hours or over 7 hours a day, and then Merg with 10 255 minutes/170 hours/rounded up 6 hours a day. Do you guys live here now?! If you compare this Top 5 list to the previous month you will see that the most active members contributed 139 hours less to the total amount of time, while the total only got reduced by roughly 70 hours.
This means that the user activity was more varied than usual in September. Anyway, this is Jaye (and UnTubular), signing out. And now I’m off to write more messages on Discord and save that number one spot in October for myself!
End note
The new Jackbox Party Pack (number 8) is launching in October and we can’t wait to play it! merg finally got real internet and can play lots of games she previously couldn’t so that will be amazing!
September was filled with exciting events to watch from Sony and Nintendo and we also got several articles out on the website which is super fun to see, it’s so nice to see you all contributing your thoughts when it comes to things you love.
With October we’re also prepping for a major birthday month where five users (me included) celebrate our birthdays!
I will end this post with a big virtual hug and to remind you to stay safe and take care of yourself and eachother!
