The Eurovision Semi-final 1 Recap
I decided it would be fun to do some small recaps on the semi-finals this year and compare them to the previous years we've looked together as a community.
Let's start off with the top 5 contestants of semi-final 1 as decided by their cumulative points in our scoring sheet. (images of artists courtesy of me so I don't have to credit anyone)
PS. The reason I place baby Lasagna at the top even though both Ireland and Croatia got 10.5 points each in average, is because Baba Lasagna got six 12's whereas Bambie Thug only got four.

🇮🇪 Bambie Thug - Doomsday Blues
Bambie Thug comitted an act of satanism on stage and we were all for it. What a performance!
🇫🇮 Windows95man - No rules!
Dutch said it best. "I'm so happy I'll get to see his penis!"
🇱🇹 Sylvester Belt - Luktelk
With a cool staging and an infectious chorus this entry sails in to number four on our list.
🇺🇦 Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil - "Teresa & Maria"
And talking about staging. Wow. This song really is something extra with its phenomenal staging.
Fun tidbits
Looking at our voting habits from previous years we can find some stats that you can find below:
BumpMap preferred this years first semi-final compared to 2023. The average points given this year was 6.16 compared to 5.78 last year. This however doesn't beat 2022 where we gave an average of 6.27.
Despite not getting the best average score compared to 2022, this year had five artists getting more than 8 points on average from us (three songs getting more than 9!) Two years ago, not a single song scored more than 7.92.
This year introduced a new controversy score (courtesy of Jaye.) It shows us the songs with the biggest point disparity, so I figured it would be fun to include the top three most disagreed upon songs to finish the post off.
🇵🇱 Poland - The Tower, 3.20
The dancing Sauron didn't do much to convince us or the voters as the song was eliminated.
ðŸ‡ðŸ‡· Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim, 2.98
A lot of people loved this song, but some people really tanked the score, so naturally it ends up high on this list.
🇱🇺 Tali - Fighter, 2.85
A pair of brothers on the server really liked to see Luxembourg return so their optimistic scoring lead to this song landing a third place in the controversy list.
