My favorite games at the Playstation Showcase 2021
The Playstation Showcase was probably the second best announcement event I’ve looked at this year. While nothing can beat Elden Ring finally being shown properly this summer, there were some really exciting announcements. Here are my favorites.
Insomniac's Wolverine
This one caught me off guard. Even though Insomniac has been rumored to work on three titles at once I didn’t think we would see two announcements at the same showcase (more on that further down). I personally think Insomniac’s Spider-Man is the best super hero game of the last generation and probably one of the best ones ever. I really hope Wolverine will get the same treatment.
Ghostwire Tokyo
This game intrigued me when it was shown at E3 2020. Since then there has been pretty much no news regarding the game but we finally got a new trailer. The game is heavily inspired by Japanese horror while it looks to be twisting it into something more action packed. I will definitely keep my eyes on this one.
Insomniac's Spider-Man 2
And here’s the second Insomniac announcement of the day! I was happy when I saw the Wolverine announcement and figured we got that instead of Spider-Man 2, but I was wrong. The trailer shows combo moves by both Peter Parker and Miles Morales which invites the thought of potential co-op? (I will dream). A popular villain also makes a visit at the end!
God of War: Ragnarök
The behemoth that we all expected was shown and boy does it look good. The trailer shows the return of the Blades of Chaos, the main weapon of the earlier Kratos era. It’s a welcome return to form in my opinion and I will finally have an excuse to finish the previous one!
Project Eve
I don’t really know what to say about this one. It looks like a mix between Parasite Eve and Bayonetta. A killer art direction and an interesting soundtrack in the trailer makes this game stand out to me. It’s also fun to see a Korean game as it usuallly is Japanese and Western being shown at these types of events.
It ticks a lot of boxes for me and I can’t wait to see more.
Conclusion
