August has been a month filled with a lot of time put into very few games. BumpMap has finally found an MMO where people have had the willpower to put in more than 15 hours and then realize “Now I remember why I don’t play MMO’s”. So that’s really exciting stuff! We also had Gamescom coming in with some cool announcements like Cult of the Lamb among other nice treats.
That also means this monthly post will be quite a bit shorter than last month’s post which you can find here. So without further ado let’s get into the games that we’ve played this month!
The games of the month™
BumpMap’s obsessions during August
Guild Wars 2
That’s right. The MMO that finally stuck with enough people on BumpMap to be played consistently is Guild Wars 2! The consensus on what we seem to like about this game is the combat combined with the exploration and activities. It doesn’t hurt that you can change your armor and mount appearance quite extensively by using skins, outfits and dyes.
We’ve managed to complete dungeons, story and festival events during the time we’ve been playing and as of this week Jep, Ren and me (UnTubular) have all reached the level cap and we will hopefully be moving forward with the expansions to take part in all the content they have to offer!

Ark: Survival Evolved
Somehow my hours in Ark have almost doubled since the July post so as you can imagine, a lot has happened. We very briefly had a Valguero base but that didn’t last too long once we made the decision to restart once again… this time with mods! We immediately got back on the grind, with the return of Dutch and Natt, this wasn’t too daunting of a prospect. We found a nice spot not too far from the centre to use as a home base before embarking on great adventures once again. We may have also changed some of the spawns so we could have glow tails and snow owls… maybe.
I think this run through so far has definitely been the best so far. We have gone on masses of enthralling exploration missions, done a great deal of argentavis breeding and some really cool buildings have been constructed thanks to some of the neat mods we have added!
I don’t think we will be putting ark away for a while yet, much to most of the server’s chagrin, so don’t be too surprised to see this again next month!

Sid Meier’s Civilization V
It all started with friends across discord wanting to catch up with eachother, the way they wanted to do it? Of course they chose civ 5, the game that has ruined so many friendships! And so Natt, Dagge, Goose, Max and Dutch assembled for a game where war is known as the most annoying thing in existence.
The Civ 5 game started quite peacefully, with everyone rushing their favorite world wonders and getting destroyed by barbarians. With only two people bothering with religion the leaderboard soon started getting skewed and made Dagge look like a terrible threat. This resulted with Dutch and Goose attacking him even though Dutch was the bigger threat in the game. While Goose was distracted with killing Dagge the power of Dutch grew out of control untill finally all players still invested in playing the game declared war on him. He was now fighting on several fronts, however the enemy couldnt break through his defenses and finally gave up when the frustration of attacking a city with 100 defense got to them declaring Dutch the winner in the end.

This month has been filled up by very few games and that’s what happens sometimes. Jackbox party Pack 8 is launching in the coming months so we have something to look forward to there!
